In Oklahoma and across the nation, a debate is intensifying about the status of state and local pension plans
and the appropriate policies to ensure that pension plans will be able to fulfill their commitments to present and
future retirees. Here are some important materials in the debate.
An initiative petition drive is under underway in Oklahoma for a ballot measure that would
require all school districts to spend no less than 65% of costs on direct classroom expenditures.
Studies by Standard and Poor and others refute any clear correlation between classroom
performance and the amount of funding on "in the classroom" expenditures.
